Volta Bridge and Lake, Ghana
The Volta Bridge was opened in 1957 by Kwame Nkrumah, then Prime Minister of the Gold Coast and first President of Ghana. Is spans the Volta River south of the Volta Dam and comprises a two pinned arch with a two lane road deck suspended below. The pictures show the main arch and the connexions between the suspension cables and the bridge main steelwork. Also, strange as it may seem, the cruise ship on Lake Volta is called the Dodi Princess, named after Dodi Island on the lake.
