The pictures on this page illustrate a shopping mall constructed in Manama, Bahrein during 1996. They were taken by Prof. J. Knapton during a visit during March 1996 and are used during his Stage 2 lectures to Newcastle University students. The pictures show typical reinforced concrete details. Whilst many of the details are common internationally, some are peculiar to the Middle East. The can be compared with pictures of Newcastle University's Robinson Library which was constructed at the same time in the UK.
